The Savanna Race
Summary: Let’s see which animal runs the fastest. Select two competitors for the race.
The results may surprise you….
Objective: This game enriches the child’s knowledge on various levels. It enables them to discover, in an enjoyable way, the speed at which different animals move. They are exposed to the concepts of ‘fast’ and ‘slow’, and the fact that they are relative concepts: for example, the ostrich is faster than the hippopotamus but slower than the lion. In addition, the children learn about the idea of a ‘race’ or ‘competition’.
Tip to take home: Play a game of dress up. Your child can dress up as a savanna animal, or you can make finger puppets together, and then have an imaginary “race”. While racing, you can even try imitating each animal’s movements.
